Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) is an internationally recognised method for assessing the risks from falling trees and branches. QTRA provides a decision-making framework which considers the balance between the benefits provided by trees, levels of risk they pose, and costs of risk management. There are users of the method in 16 countries. 

We have a vacancy for a Business Development Manager. 

Job title: Business Development Manager

  • Identify and develop new training providers to run our courses internationally
  • Work with management to create online training materials and programs
  • Conduct market research to identify potential customers and market trends
  • Stay updated on industry trends, to identify new opportunities and potential risks
  • Monitor performance
  • Assist with the production of marketing materials such as newsletters, mail shots, emails and social media
  • Work with our administration team to streamline processes and to improve efficiency.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience in dealing with international trade
  • Proven experience in Business Development
  • A background in the training industry would be beneficial
  • A background in land-based industries would be helpful but not essential

Hours and Environment

This is a part time position – 3 days per week. We are flexible on days although one of which must be Wednesday. Office hours are 8.30am to 5pm. You will be based out of our office in Macclesfield. You may also be required to attend workshops, seminars and conferences from time to time. 


Holiday entitlement will be 28 days each year including public holidays (pro rata). 

Salary and benefits

The successful applicant will receive a salary of between £18,000 and £27,000. Salary is negotiable and dependent on ability and experience. We also offer a contribution to a personal pension equivalent to 6% of salary, or membership of a company pension scheme equivalent to 5% of salary.
